About me
Born in East Germany, now based in Cologne, and drawn to Paris—I’m a trained communication designer with over 20 years of success as a freelance creative. My work bridges digital and print, though my roots lie in the analog world. Aesthetics and the art of enjoyment are in my DNA.
I find inspiration in the pulse of urban life—the rhythm of cities, the people, the stories unfolding in everyday moments. I’ve traveled extensively, absorbing cultures, flavors, and atmospheres that shape my artistic vision. Food is more than sustenance to me; it’s an experience, a craft, a way to connect. Cooking and dining across the world fuel my creativity as much as any sketchbook.
Yet, despite my years of experience, I wake up every day with the same feeling: I’m just at the beginning of my journey.
– Paul Lapin
Oh, and btw: My real name is Jens Schellhase—but let’s be honest, that’s a challenge for most people to pronounce. During my time in Paris, I grew fond of the name Paul—it carries a certain effortless elegance. Lapin, French for “rabbit,” is a nod to my last name, Schellhase. Together, they form a name that feels like me: international, fluid, and deeply connected to my creative journey.
